Code of Conduct
ATHLETES AND FAMILIES
Hurricanes are RESPECTFUL, PREPARED, and HEALTHY athletes who practice GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP in a SAFE and FUN environment.
We will be RESPECTFUL and courteous toward our teammates and their families, coaches, officials and competitors. We will be RESPECTFUL of equipment, supplies and pool facilities, both at home and at away pools.
We will arrive at practice and competitions with required equipment and ready to focus. We will be PREPARED to participate, both mentally and physically and will put forth our best effort.
We will be HEALTHY athletes by eating nutritiously, staying properly hydrated and getting adequate rest. The use of drugs, alcohol or tobacco will not be tolerated in our sports environment.
We will be GOOD SPORTS and excellent ambassadors of our team. We will place the emotional and physical well-being of our team members ahead of any personal desire to win. We will not engage in disrespectful conduct of any sort including profanity, offensive remarks, taunting, boastful celebrations or other actions that demean individuals or our sport.
We will practice SAFETY in and around the pool area and surrounding facilities. We will follow all posted rules at our own pool and at those we visit. Safety violations that will not be tolerated include diving without permission, dunking, running on the deck, pushing teammates into the pool, or disruptive behavior. There is absolutely NO DIVING in the shallow end of the pool and FINS may be only worn in the pool (NOT on the deck).
We will do our best to make participation on the Hurricanes Swim Team a FUN experience for all. We will be encouraging, positive and supportive of our teammates, our families and our staff and enjoy ourselves in the process!
