6/10 Meet Results and 6/17 Meet Preparation
Great meet this past Saturday! Check out the attached results. It was a close one! As a team, we came in 3rd, but only by 4 points!!! Wow! One thing I love about swimming is that it is both an individual and team sport, so check out personal times and places and remember that every race counts toward the team points! One reminder - if you ever have a question about a time or DQ call during a meet, the RMSL League protocol is to bring your concern to the Parent Rep (Emily or Alli) so that we can follow up with the other team. No coaches or parents should approach a Timer, Stroke Judge, Starter, or other Official/Coach directly. Our team is always very polite but there have been some issues throughout the league so they asked us to remind everyone. Thanks!
1. Our team pictures are Tuesday morning this week. Check out Alli's email from last week for details - 7:10 arrival for all age groups so we can get set up for the team photo! Wear team gear or purple if you can! Also, bring along any too-small swim suits or team gear for a size-swap event!!!
2. Our next meet is a Home Meet on Saturday, June 17th. Please have your swimmer declaration/RSVP in Swimtopia by noon this Wednesday, June 14th. Reminder - if your swimmer cannot stay for the Free Relays at the end of the meet we ask that you indicate that in your declarations so that coaches don't schedule them and end up having to scratch an entire relay.
3. Some of you have had a hard time finding volunteer slots. I have added a few slots for each of our two remaining home meets so take a look if you aren't signed up for 3 slots. You can navigate to the Event on our Swimtopia website and click on Job Sign Up to see what is available. The expectation is that each family cover three volunteer spots throughout the season. If you are signed up for more than 3, you can take your name out to open up a slot for another family. We will have additional slots when we get our end of season banquet planned as well so stay tuned! Please let Alli or Emily know if you have any questions!!
4. The 4th of July Party at the pool is our biggest team fundraiser. We run the Bingo tent and need lots of prize donations! Starting this week, there will be a box in the Guard Shack for any prizes you can bring in. This can be Dollar Store/Aisle toys, re-gifted items from around home, or anything you might enjoy winning if you were playing. We try to get fun stuff for kids and adults alike! Reminder - no glass at the pool! You can also make a cash donation to our Venmo @HHSTSWIM with 4th of July or Bingo in the notes and we will use that money to buy additional prizes. I have also added an event in Swimtopia for volunteer slots working our Bingo Tent on the 4th of July. Sign up if you are interested (this can count toward your required 3 jobs for the season!!
4. It is time to start thinking about Prelims and Finals!
After our 5 regular season meets, there is a league-wide Prelim meet for each age group and the top 18 swimmers in each event qualify to swim in the League Finals meet. Prelims are optional but lots of fun! To be eligible for Prelims, swimmers must participate in 2 regular season meets. I've opened up the meet entries for all four of the age group Prelims Meets in Swimtopia (if your swimmer has not done 2 meets yet they won't be eligible yet until they do). If nothing is entered, coaches will assume that your swimmer is not participating and they will not be placed into any events. These are long meets with lots of swimmers so plan on the whole day, 7 a.m. or earlier until 3-4:00 p.m. or later. The prelim entries will be open until July 1st at noon - please mark your swimmer as attending or not before this deadline. Prelim and Finals volunteer spots are also open!!
The Prelims and Finals meets are as follows:
| Prelim 13-18 | July 10, 2023 | Homestead Farm II |
| Prelim 8&U | July 11, 2023 | Stonegate |
| Prelim 9-10 | July 12, 2023 | Homestead (North) |
| Prelim 11-12 | July 13, 2023 | Heritage Greens |
| Finals | July 15, 2023 | Cherry Creek Vista |
Take care!!
Emily and Alli
