Swim Team Volunteering and Shadowing Opportunities
Hi all, we are almost to summer, yay! Over the winter, have you been thinking of new ideas, wondered how you could help out in a different way, learn new names, have some more summer fun? Well, exciting news Hurricanes, have we got some good news for you
This is a transition year for us and we are opening up swim team shadowing opportunities for you to best be prepared as we enter this season and go forward.
Some of the bigger volunteer positions are in need of a shadow this year to be trained so that the 2026 season can happen!
2025 is an amazing year to dip in your toes! No major construction happening (so no need to find alternate pools), not in the middle of a pandemic (fingers crossed!!), no new swim technology to learn (keeping Swimtopia and the timing systems), no meetings to attend this summer (we have handled it all) and you won’t be alone in learning anything!
So what does this mean for you? If you are interested in being a parent rep, treasurer, or possibly being trained in the meet software, please reach out! As you know, our team cannot run without our wonderful parents!
Parent Reps: The system is supposed to be a rotating 2-3 year system and it is much easier with 3-4 people rather than 2. Ideally, 2 new people in every year and 1-2 out each year to keep experience and new energy matched. For those of you who know, Emily ad Alli have been parent reps for the past 5+ years. Joining us for her second year, the amazing Sadie is staying on and we couldn’t be happier. Emily will only be a parent rep at our 2 home meets, which means that we need 2-3 people to step up and shadow with the intention and 2-year commitment of becoming parent reps for 2026. As it stands now, we are dividing somethings up to make it less daunting and to create opportunity and room for other people to participate without items staying in the parent rep realm.
Treasurer: Our wonderful Megan Klaussen is back this year too, but willing to train this season!
Meet Manager: Matt Klaussen has crushed it, and happily doing so again. But this is always something we need in case of illness/injury, other commitments that arise. Emily will be helping this year, but happy to train another.
