2026 Hurricane Season is Here!
The 2026 Hampden Heights Hurricanes Swim Season is almost here!
Registration is now OPEN so head on over to the team's Swimtopia website linked here: https://hampdenheights.swimtopia.com/ and click on REGISTRATION at the top. You will be able to log in and pre-populate most of the info from last year. Payment is available through credit card, Venmo, or you can write a good old paper check and submit it when practice starts. You will also be able to sign up for volunteer positions for our three home meets during registration.
Speaking of volunteering, we are IN SERIOUS NEED to fill some spots this year.
1. We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator. This role would include helping volunteers sign-in, get name tags, and get to the correct locations at meets. This position fullfills all volunteer requirements for your family and only constits of less than an hour total of your time each meet (and its a good way to keep yourself in the shade!)
2. We are looking for a Treasurer in training to learn from the fabulous Meghan Klassen this summer and take over this position next summer. Please email [email protected] if you have additional questions about this role. This role is exempt from the three required meet volunteer shifts.
3. We currently have two Parent Reps (Alli Pineda and Sadie Levine). THIS IS OUR LAST FORMAL YEAR AND 2 MORE PARENT REPS WILL BE NEEDED NEXT YEAR IN ORDER TO HAVE A TEAM. This position should be a 2-year rotation, so there is always one newbie and one returner. This job entails attending RMSL League meetings monthly during the off-season, organizing registration and meet sign-ups, and any other events that the team wants to do. We have made a handbook with great details and created many more volunteer roles to help ease the "largness" this role can feel like at first. We have also done all the work over this last winter to ensure that our team didn't feel the brunt of not having anyone step into this role as expected. This would be the BEST time to shadow and learn to make next year easier for our incoming Reps, also, we are nice, so come join us! This role is exempt from the three required volunteer shifts. Reply to this email if you have questions about any of these volunteer positions or about registration.
A few additional things as we open our season:
1. We have some exciting news about pool time! We are getting an extra hour each morning since our team has grown so much, so thank you to Katie Evers and the board for getting us more time in the H20. That being said, please fill out this poll so Coach Aaron can best assess needs and confirm practice times:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe_hRHcFd...
Once we here back, we will post morning practice times. Afternoon times will remain for now, weather premitting, around May 11.
2. Coaches are excited to see you soon! If you are about 15+ Hurricane with more than a few seasons under your belt and are interested in Junior Coaching opportunities, please reach out to Coach Aaron at [email protected] by April 15 for him to assess need/eligibility for this year.
3. Lets gear up! Suits are remiaing the same so no need to spend extra money if yours still fits! There is not a sizing event this year, but if you need to figure out size, head to MI Sports before they move buildings for any extra swim needs. Our order site for suits is: Link to Order. Order deadlines are in the Spirit Wear tab on Swimtopia.
4. Info for all our wonderful stroke judges on the stroke juding clincis will be coming soon! We ALWAYS need stroke judges, so consider this as a great volunteer opportunity!
Last, but not least, please pass on registration information to any pool members or friends who might be interested in joining the Hurricanes this summer. You don't have to be a member to join, and WE LOVE HAVING YOU!
We can't wait to see you all! Just keep swimming! HHST Parent Reps
